Ministering: SOAP Project

Ok so a while back... in February to be exact I had the blessed opportunity to serve with SOAP (save our adolescence from prostitution). I thought I had blogged about this, but apparently not. So I want to share with you the amazing work that God did over those two days and the days that followed. SOAP came in town for the super bowl... like a said it has been a while, and I fail at not reporting before now. The entire purpose of SOAP is to reach the victims of sex trafficking. They do so by labeling bars of hotel soap with questions and the national hotline number. Basically if you answer yes to any of the questions you should call the number for assistance. They also provide those complying hotels with information about sex trafficking, what is, how to look for it, who is at risk, etc.

So for a SOAP event the entire purpose is to label the soap and then head to the mission field... the hotels, to distribute all the soap. Enough soap was given to each hotel for every room for three nights, along with a variety of other resources to hand out to employees to look over. With this they also put together a missing person booklet. It was full of pictures of girls that had gone missing in the last few months in the surrounding area. The was specific emphasis on one girl that had been seen in the area.

As my team (my mom, a friend Chris, myself) headed out, I'm not going to lie I was a little nervous. I had no clue what to say and really didn't know what I was doing. The entire time I tried to keep a prayerful mind that God would be directing all our actions, thoughts and words that day, that He be glorified in our work. Our group hit up 8 hotels and passed out over 2700 bars of soap. We hit nice hotels and not so nice hotels. Almost all of the people that we talked to at the hotels were interested in what we were doing and excited to be apart of stopping this crime. One specific hotel was so encouraging, we had the chance to stand and talk to them for a while and ended up being able to pray with them. What a blessing it was to share our faith with them in that way. May God still be sending people into their lives to continue to plant seeds. We also knew that 24 hour dinners near hotels saw a lot of action. Anytime we saw a dinner next to a hotel we stopped in and handed them what information we could and just chatted with them about this crime and what we can be doing to stop it. One specific manager was very aware of the problem, stating she had seen prostitutes at the local hotel, how sad it is what our world has come to.

By the end of the day we were on fire for this ministry and so excited about what we had, had the opportunity to do. Praise God for opening the doors that lead to finding this ministry and in return helping with it.

UPDATE: We later found out that as a result of the work that SOAP did three girls were found who had been trapped in the horrid world since the age of 16, they were 21 when found. Praise God for working in all situations and using all kinds of people. It is only through God that good happens, may all praise and glory and honor forever be given to the Most High for this blessed event.

I would just like to encourage you to get involved in a ministry that you have a passion for. God has made each one of us uniquely and we should use those gifts and talents that He has blessed us with to bless others.
