A Thriving Ministry

This weekend I had the opportunity to visit a local mission organization. Good News Ministries in downtown Indianapolis. WOW what a blessing that ministry really is to the downtown area. They have 5 areas that they focus on. There are two that impacted me the most, don't get me wrong all five are simply amazing and truly blessed by the Lord, but 2 really stuck out. The first being the men's ministry. They offer housing to men for as long as they need, BUT there are stipulations to this. They must work 40 hours a week, there is roll call twice a day, and they must attend Bible study each night. They are allowed to work outside of the mission, but most of them are working within the mission doing whatever they can. In return they receive a place to live and three solid meals a day. They are training these men. It is so amazing the work that the Lord is doing through particular part of their ministry, praise God! The second is the youth center. The director has such a heart for these kids and it was awesome to hear what they are doing. The center provides a meal each night to kids that are present, helps them with their home work, provides a daily Bible Study, and has an incentive program to help give kids the encouragement they need to try harder. Their incentive program this season is a flag football team. The awesome part about this is the requirements is they must attend church each week, three Bible studies, and no fights! At the end of the season they will have the opportunity to participate in an amazing game. They will play at a local school under the lights, against a college team. This year they are shooting for over 100 visitors in the stands Lord willing I will be there. What an encouraging way to spend an evening. Spending time doing something for someone else and supporting and encouraging others!! Good News might have to count their pennies closely and be very resourceful, but the Lord has given them a thriving ministry that just screams praises to our most high Lord and Savior! Praise Him, sincerely Praise Him!!
Please pray with me that the Lord will continue to bless this ministry and grow them (the ministry and leaders) in ways they can not even imagine, a way only the Lord can conceive.
